This 22-acre vineyard is part of a 50-acre property along
the Navarro River in Anderson Valley. Founded in 1971 by the Husch
family, this winery was the first established in the Anderson Valley. The
Oswald Family purchased the winery in 1979. Al White, vineyard manager,
has used no-till management practices since 1976 to protect hillsides from
erosion and protect water quality. |

OF THE YEAR IN MENDOCINO COUNTY |
| The King Farm, located on the eastern side of Ukiah
Valley, stretches from the Russian River to the ridgetop covering 1,500
acres. Owned by the King Family who has farmed since 1919, the
property has 45 acres of vineyards that were established in 1966. Cover
crops are used to protect soil and water quality. The remainder
of the property is primarily dedicated to wildlife habitat and open space. The
King Family is well known for their dedication to environmental land
stewardship and enhancing wildlife habitat. The late Malcolm King
envisioned restoring the riparian corridor along the Russian River on
his property and as part of the Fish Friendly Farming program, his
wife Janet King and daughter and son-in-law Becky and Steven Koenig,
completed this vision with the largest single restoration project in
the Russian River area. The King Family's long-term dedication
to excellent land management, care for wildlife and the Russian River
has earned them the distinction of the 2003 Fish Friendly Farming Outstanding
Land Steward of the Year in Mendocino County. |

| La Ribera Vineyards - Ukiah Valley, Mendocino County |

| This 150-acre vineyard along the Russian River is
part of a 230-acre property. Al White, vineyard manager, has used no-till
practices to conserve soil since 1998. Morrison Creek, along the
northern boundary of the site, was revegetated as part of the Fish Friendly
Farming program. The river corridor is managed to enhance
wildlife habitat. |

| Larramendy Vineyard - Ukiah Valley, Mendocino County |
| This 27-acre family farm includes 20 acres of vineyard. Bill
Larramendy, the owner and manager, has worked to establish cover crops
to protect soil and water quality since planting the vineyard in 1972. A
seasonal creek that flows into the Russian River is also protected on
the site. |

| Light Vineyard - Redwood Valley, Mendocino County |

This 25-acre vineyard has been certified organic since
1993. Tim Buckner, vineyard manager, is implementing no-till practices
to protect soil and water quality and is revegetating the 15 acres of open
space on the property with native plants, such as oaks. |

| Lone Oak Vineyard - Bennett Valley, Sonoma County |
| This farm, owned by the Judge Family, includes 9.5
acres of vineyard. Several seasonal creeks that feed into
Matanzas Creek, a tributary of the Russian River, are protected as open
space. |
