PROJECTS

Nelson and Sons Ranch and Vineyards, Hopland Valley, Mendocino County
This large ranch includes Kneeland and McNab Creeks, tributaries to the Russian River.   In 2004, Kneeland Creek was revegetated with a variety of native riparian trees and shrubs.   This creek provides spawning and rearing habitat for steelhead trout.   In 2005, portions of McNab Creek will also be revegetated by the Nelson Family and the FFF program, in collaboration with the federal National Resource Conservation Service.

Fetzer Winery and Vineyards, Hopland Valley, Mendocino County
When the FFF Farm Conservation Plan process identified some erosion along roads on their property, Fetzer vineyards revised their management practices as part of their company's sustainability approach to address control of sediment on all their property.   All improvements needed for the roads were completed by Fetzer in conformance with their FFF Farm Conservation Plan.

Meyer Family Cellars, Yorkville, Mendocino County

This winery is on the floodplain of Rancheria Creek, a major tributary to the Navarro River.   Upslope erosion produced high inputs of rock and cobble into Rancheria Creek causing the stream to erode its banks.   As part of their Fish Friendly Farming Plan, the landowner will revegetate their entire creek frontage with native plants in 2005.
