Navarro Vineyards Road Improvement Demonstration Project

The Fish Friendly Farming program is working with Navarro Vineyards to implement a demonstration of soil erosion control on a vineyard road. Currently, the road has an inboard ditch and culverts. This conventional system generates fine sediment that then runs off into creeks. The project involves out-sloping the road and installing rolling dips. This design disperses runoff off the road as sheetflow to avoid concentration into erosive flow. Completed in 2008, this project serves as a demonstration to landowners for future road improvement projects. Funding for this project was provided by the California State Water Resources Control Board.
